Over this year’s Winter Break, I decided to make some new commercials for Emerson’s campus TV channel… I was getting sick and tired of watching the same few over and over and over and over again… And now these air regularly on the channel!

From Deck Hand to "General"
One of my least favorite Battlestar Galactica characters, Jammer, is now on General Hospital.  Sure, he was pretty whiny on BSG, but his new character seems to top Jammer. Ever since the first few episodes of Galactica, Jammer was one of the weakest performances on the show. It’s nice to see that he’s acting a bit more within his range now…  How sad.

Stargate Universe: 1x14 "Human"
The second half of the first season continues to pick up steam in “Human.” It feels like someone is actually listening to what I’ve been saying over the last few weeks. Several elements from “Faith” and “Human” are left unresolved at the end of the episode, creating the potential for these arcs to play out over several episodes and even become underlying...

Goals for Summer 2010
As my first year of college draws to a close, I’m starting to think about what I’m going to spend the summer doing. This is some of what I’ve come up with: Plan as many day trips to the Jersey Shore as possible with my cousins. Start watching The Big Bang Theory before more people suggest it to me. Start watching Chuck for the same reasons. Get myself over-prepared for EIV...

Ewok Karaoke // by Rob Tyler (via dbsw, paosanchez) This may have broken my brain a little bit. Everything about this is so wrong. I’m pretty alright with it, though.

One Year.
On September 7th, I entered a time warp. I think I’m finally starting to exit it. I have no idea how the last two weeks of my freshman year of college is creeping up on me. It feels like I’ve only been here for a few months, not an entire school year. Since coming to Emerson, I feel like I’m a completely new person: from a certain point of view. I’ve become more myself...

Here’s a video I’ve been editing all semester when a group of friends went to New York to cover New Year’s Eve in Time’s Square.

Survey Time!
I just remembered that, since it’s nearing the end of the semester, we’re going to get the e-mail allowing us to rate our professors and review them. The secret’s out: I love those surveys! Sorry for the lameness of this post. You can all continue with your days now.

Here’s the final episode of EIV News from the the Spring 2010 semester. It’s a news show that I work on at Emerson. EIV News recently won the award for Best News Station of the Year from the Associated Press! I’m legit proud to be a part of such an awesome production. I was sick during the taping of this show, but I did do some of the over-the-shoulder graphics. It’s great...

Stargate Universe: 1x13 "Faith"
“Faith” finished what “Space” began in actually renewing my faith in Universe. The show as pitched to us as a change of pace within the Stargate mythos and a turn towards character drama. We finally received that in “Faith” and I, for one, am thrilled! One of my longest running critiques of the show is the lack of story arcs. It seemed like week after week,...

A TV show on campus interviewed me about some of my favorite high school work: my two music videos, “Immune” and “Did You Get My Message?”. It was a ton of fun being interviewed by them (in part because I live for interviews).  I have to say, they did a really great job cutting together the final video. Within this one video, there’s the interview as well as the...

From Film to TV
Today I officially handed in the paperwork to change my major from Film Production to Studio Television. Let’s see how this goes. This is the first time that they’re allowing freshmen to apply to change VMA concentrations in May, so I hope things go smoothly. AKA, I hope I GET WHAT I WANT. I’m completely OCD and already have all of my classes sequenced over the next three years....

Last night was the final episode of The Dish as well as the second time I got to do my science fiction segment. I had such a blast over the past month working on this segment! Thanks to Eli & Simon, the executive producers of the show, for giving me the opportunity to do it! This week I talked about Stargate Universe. If any of you people in Interwebs-land are so enthralled by this review,...

Will the Ver-iPhone Cause Competitive Pricing? →
The heated rumors of the iPhone finally coming to Verizon are causing a lot of debate amongst tech experts. Will the competition create a price-lowering competition between Verizon and AT&T?

Stargate Universe: 1x12 "Divided"
*SPOILER ALERT* Just beware that this is a review, not a preview. “Divided” drops the high intensity that “Space” started slightly. That’s not to say that “Divided” has no action, it’s just holed up in the last ten minutes of the show. “Divided” does an interesting job of continuing the civilian v. military struggles that seem to be...

4 Groups That Will Buy iPads →
Now that the iPad has officially launched, it’s time to see what it’s capable of doing on the market…  The section of this article about students is what I thought the iPad was going to be before it was unveiled. I’m not too sure if it’ll live up to this utopian “digital notebook/textbook,” though. But I’m staying tuned to see if it does! Raise your...

Half-Jewish Easter in Boston
Natalie and I spent our Easter with our lovely half-Jewish friend Maggie and her family. It’s literally been a perfect day. The weather is unbelievably perfect: 70s. Spending the day with friends was a blast. Maggie’s family was a hoot.  The real reason that today deserves to be Tumbl’d is because of the drive back from Rockland to Boston. For some reason, I’ve never...

Stargate Universe: 1x11 "Space"
As you all know, I’m a big science fiction fan, so I figured I’d use this blog for the greater good: reviewing episodes of my favorite shows the day after they air! Last night was the returning premiere of Stargate Universe, the third TV series within the Stargate franchise. It premiered last October with its first 10 episodes and the back 10 are starting up again. Let me start out...

Dear Registrar,
I have a confession to make. You’re secretly my best friend. Planning out class schedules, collecting CRNs, and reading reviews of professors is my favorite part of the semester. Hours on eCommon boggle my mind and make me feel like I’m solving a 1,000-piece Star Wars jigsaw puzzle. Love Always, Matt

Lucas
Well, it’s taken this long, but I finally got to learn about George Lucas in a classroom. Granted, it wasn’t for nearly as long and it wasn’t nearly detailed enough to satisfy me, but it happened.  Why isn’t there a class at Emerson about the cultural significance of Star Wars in the late 1970s? And, yes, I’m serious.
