Star Wars Empire State of Mind →
Apparently CollegeHumor.com doesn’t let you embed videos, so I had to post this as a link. It’s literally one of the best Star Wars parody videos I have ever seen. It’s sheer perfection and utterly hilarious.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
With my free time this summer, I’ve been watching the second season of The Clone Wars. Some Star Wars fans are pretty darn critical of the show, but I think it’s pretty good for what it is. The animation is gorgeous and the stories really aren’t that bad. Sure, most of the episodes have a bit of a “lesson learned” at the end, but I like it anyway. Here’s a...

New iPhone to Have Much Higher Resolution →
Another interesting and awesome detail about the upcoming 4G iPhone. This has nothing to do with my hopes for it to come to Verizon, but it’s still a great detail to hear!

Emerson’s new admissions video is finally online! They were around and filming for a while in the beginning of last semester and it looks AMAZING. I must say, they really did a great job of really grasping what Emerson is all about. Of course, there was a little bit of over-glamorizing going on, but it’s more accurate than it is fake. I officially cannot wait to get back in the fall.

– Anthony Daniels, Actor (C-3PO) This caught me so off guard that Anthony Daniels would say this that I felt obligated to post this to Tumblr.

Here’s a promo I put together for EIV, a production group at Emerson. EIV is going to go through quite a facelift this year and I can’t frakkin’ wait!

Stargate Universe: 1x18 "Subversion"
Welcome back, SG-1! As we enter the final stretch of Universe’s freshman season, things take an interesting turn. Ever since the title of the finale was announced, I expected the “incursion” to be alien-based. “Subversion” took all of my expectations and turned them upside down. I’ve got plenty to say, so I’ll try to keep it organized. ...

[Creative Title About Inability to be Creative]
Over the course of the last week or so I’ve been trying to teach myself After Effects. My problem is that I try to teach myself new applications by working on actual projects instead of just messing around. This leads to my other problem of being a perfectionist. I can’t just accept a final product for an actual project to be half-assed just because of my learning curve on a piece of...

I’m starting to work on my #1 summer goal this year: learning After Effects. On that note, I just discovered Adobe TV, a learning portal with videos and sample files for download to work alongside the tutorial. Since I’m obsessed with learning new creative software and watching video tutorials, Adobe TV is my new favorite place on the web. And the narrator doesn’t have a horribly...

Stargate Universe: 1x17 "Pain"
“Pain” was an interesting episode for Universe. It’s a kind of stand-alone episode that the show doesn’t see too often, something I think is its strong suit. Going back to a “this week our heroes go on ____ adventure” format reminds me of old Stargate. What isn’t standard to the old Stargate format is how character-driven this episode was. Usually,...

What I Learned From the 29th EVVY Awards...
So after an exhausting freshman EVVYs week, this is all supposed to just be a college learning experience. What did I actually take away from all of this? Well I learned: How to operate a Sony EX3. The importance of pre-organizing equipment. The usefulness of labeling the crap out of triax cable. When planning on meeting someone someplace, remind them, remind them again, and then keep in...

The EVVY Awards: Day 5
Tomorrow at this time, the show will be over and I’m completely denying that fact. Today’s dress rehearsal was amazing. This week has been so long that I can barely remember the beginning of the week with equipment distribution, cable runs, and signal patching. The broadcast cut of the show is getting better and better. I’m finally starting to realize that this is seriously the...

The EVVY Awards: Day 4
It’s time for me to trade in my Assistant Engineer hat for my Tape Op hat. Tech setup was just about finished as early as when I showed up this morning at 11 AM. We set up another QC camera for stage management and then were just about finished. Throughout the day, there were little things that needed to be fixed, obviously, but the majority of the tech team was done. It’s such a weird...

The EVVY Awards: Day 3
With Wednesday finished, tech setup is basically finished. Today was mostly dedicated to making sure that all of the comms work well. It was a lengthy process that I was only half involved in, but everything was lovely by the end of the day. The end of today was actually really rewarding. Seeing almost all of the tech aspects of the show finished and functioning makes it all seem even more real. ...

The EVVY Awards: Day 2
Tuesday, the longest and roughest day for the Tech team is complete and I’d like to call it an utter success. Obviously, not everything worked immediately, but almost all of our troubleshooting efforts yielded results. I think I learned more today than I did yesterday just because I’ve gotten used to the process, surroundings, and work involved with putting together the largest student...

The EVVY Awards: Day 1
I was planning on putting a bunch of really cool pictures in these daily posts, but that was shot to hell when I realized that carrying around a camera with me would be counterproductive. Not to mention the lack of time to be taking those pictures. Luckily, our lovely Assistant Tech Producer, Jayne, has been taking pictures since the get-go and is keeping a blog to show them off. Check them out at...

Stargate Universe: 1x16 "Sabotage"
“Sabotage” is completely worth it just for the last ten minutes of the episode. As far as the rest of the episode, I have slightly mixed feelings. The character content of the show has me a little bit confused. Maybe ‘confused’ isn’t the best word, because it’s not that I’m unsure of what’s going on, it’s just that I’m not sure what...

The EVVY Awards: Calm Before the Storm
The EVVY Awards are the largest student-produced multi-camera awards broadcast in the country and I’m planning on posting a blog entry every night throughout production week, which begins Monday. I’m an Assistant Engineer during the setup process and a Tape Operator in the control room during the actual show. Today we worked on collecting equipment from a ton of places on campus and...

Hold the iPhone? →
Is AT&T’s no-contract, half-price iPad service fees evidence that AT&T ‘bribed’ Apple into letting them hold exclusivity for another few months?

Using Google in the Star Wars Universe // from College Humor (via dbsw, nellodee) Colliding two of my loves together, Google and Star Wars, is a little bit overwhelming, but this is one of the best things I’ve seen today. Considering I’ve been awake for like 15 minutes, that’s not too impressive, but I promise, this is REALLY AWESOME.
